Challenge
The collaboration with P&P Shoes presented our team with a number of demanding challenges that had to be overcome. A key element was the migration of content from Contenido to Shopware, which required the development of a special migration profile based on xt:Commerce. This migration was crucial to efficiently and error-free transfer the existing data and structures to the new system.
Another important point was the integration of the BITS ERP system into the Shopware platform. This required close coordination between the systems to ensure smooth data exchange and synchronization of inventory and orders. Additionally, we developed six special plugins, including the Brand and Sales Plugin, to extend some of Contenido's functions in Shopware. These plugins were necessary to meet P&P Shoes' specific requirements regarding brand presentation and sales promotion.
An urgent issue was the impending discontinuation of PayPal for invoice purchases. It was necessary to quickly find a solution to ensure the continued secure handling of payments and avoid potential revenue losses. Shopware 6 was the first choice for a fast migration and a future-proof e-commerce system. Moreover, we carried out numerous industry-specific optimizations that were originally implemented in Contenido and have now been successfully integrated into Shopware. These customizations ranged from special product displays to tailored sales processes, which we successfully transferred to the new platform.
Shopware 6 Features That Impress
As one of the leading e-commerce platforms on the market, Shopware 6 offers a multitude of useful features that were utilized in the project:
- Experience Worlds, which allow for quick content creation and customization, as well as flexible responses to seasonal campaigns
- Dynamic Product Groups, which make category maintenance even easier and can be used diversely in Experience Worlds
- Cross-Selling elements are used to display single-dimensional product variants from the ERP
- With Social Shopping, the feed for Google Shopping could be created in no time
- The discount functions allow for price reductions on specific products, and individual codes are used for purchased vouchers
