We successfully migrated the online store for trendy shoes and accessories from xT:Commerce/Contenido to Shopware 6. In this success story, we highlight the challenges we aimed to solve with the migration, the strategic decisions involved, and the outcomes that led to the project's success.

Challenge

The project requirements brought a number of complex challenges that our team successfully managed. A central aspect was the migration of content from the previous system to Shopware 6. To ensure this data transfer was secure and error-free, a custom migration profile was developed, allowing for a smooth transition from the old platform.

Another critical point was the integration of Klever Schuhe’s existing ERP system into the Shopware environment. The flexibility of the open-source platform played a key role here, as it enabled seamless integration of extensions such as the ERP system. This ensured tight synchronization of systems to update and synchronize inventory and orders in real time. Additionally, custom plugins were developed to adapt the functionality of the Shopware platform to the specific needs of Klever Schuhe. For example, a 'Click & Reserve' extension was developed for integration with the BITS ERP, allowing customers to check stock availability in nearby stores and try on shoes locally.

Furthermore, numerous industry-specific customizations that were part of the previous solution were successfully transferred to Shopware. These included optimized product presentations and tailored sales processes, which are now seamlessly integrated into the new system.

With ten brick-and-mortar stores in Southern Germany—including Lörrach, Schopfheim, and Konstanz—and its online shop klever-schuhe.de, the company offers shoes and accessories from renowned brands such as Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ecco. Klever Schuhe employs over 60 people who contribute to the company’s success with their expertise and passion.
